Why are reicht wing babby boomers still railing against '60s hippies/liberals?
Q. It is over. Nobody wants to hear how the mission should have been to win in Vietnam and how that applies to Afghanistan. Nobody wants to hear about workers returning to 1950s work ethics (where is my secretary and my spacious high rise office with a great view and bar?) whilst your precious craporations and banks continue their bathing in the cesspool of sleazy corporate ethics. You did this railing all through Reagan, H. Dumbya and Dumbya II years, and are still not satisfied. Now you have some in generation X doing it. Your entire generation has failed this nation. Bye. TK, that is a sublime quote. Thank you for sharing it. Samwise, I can call my dogs off if you can. Boomer generation (perhaps this is not you who knows) is… [cont.]

Why do Hippie 60s Radical marxists dwell on Karl Marx ideas and have nothing new of their own ideas?
Q. Now they are wearing suits but still are the Cult of radical marxists and running the country, but are using ideology from the 60s, and using ideas that have been done in bits that all failed. Conservative non-radicals, like when a country looks at true history and doesn't repeat things that didn't work for the people. Progressives keep doing the same thing. If Clinton didn't get stuck with Republicans in the house- he would have moved more left and probably would have been another Carter and a failure.

Any other 60s bands that sound similar to The Lovin Spoonful and some songs by the Beatles?
Q. Even though Im just 16, I love 60s music, because I grew up around it. I love love love the sound of The Lovin Spoonful, they are one of my all time favorite bands, even compared to today's music. Also, The Beatles have a few similar sounding songs, like Here Comes the Sun, for example. Any other 60s music you recommend for my tastes in music? Thanks so much!

How was the Vietnam war and other '60s programs funded?
Q. I'm researching the 1960s, specifically the issues of escalation in the Vietnam war, education, and healthcare. I know America spent billions (a whopping $584) of dollars on the war, but where did it come from? How about the funding for schools in the Elementary and Secondary School Act, or the healthcare in Medicare? Where was the government's main source of money in the '60s? Thanks so much! I really appreciate any answers or educated guesses!

In the 60s/70s:National Geographic had a culture-of-the-month club where kids got mail packages. What was it?
Q. When I was young I used to get really cool international stuff in the mail every month because of this club. I got a pan-flute from Africa and a ball-and-cup game from Mexico... Does anyone remember the details? A web search of "explorers club" doesn't seem to return the right results... Perhaps someone with really old issues can find a reference in late 60s or early 70s issues of National Geographic.

How exactly where comics make back in the 40s 50s and 60s?
Q. I've always wondered how, there where no computers except for those huge ones used by scientists back then, so how did the comic creators (Mavel comics for example) create the now nostalgic look we all know and love in a comic (Take spiderman for example) I'm not a comic book fan and I do not read comic books other than the occasional 1950s or 60s comic
Asked by Jesse - Thu May 27 00:04:28 2010 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Comics are usually made by offset process, which hasn't changed much in decades. What has changed are how the printing plates are made. There are plenty of ways to do this, most of which are based on photography or lithography. Other developments are the variety of printing inks available, halftoning and other methods of creating gradual tones, and improvements to the precision of the printing equipment.

What source of transportation did young people use in the 60s?
Q. hi i'm doing a project about the 60s. i was wondering if motorcycles were used often back then. mostly youth/ or hippies. thank you!!
Asked by Elina - Wed Dec 2 21:43:08 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. There were some motorcycles around, but not many had them. As with any younger generation, money, or the lack of it, was a big issue, therefore, any type of car would suffice and teens were happy to have it. Muscles cars like Mustangs, Corvettes, Camaros, GTOs were the rage, but very few could afford to have one. Young people often just walked to where they were going, or if you had a friend of a friend who had a car, that was the means of transportation. The journey wasnt as important as the destination.

What significant events in the 60s influenced the TV show Doctor Who?
Q. What was happening at the time that would have been represented through the Doctor and his Companions characters? I don't know a lot about the 60s so please help??
Asked by Amy - Tue May 4 15:28:06 2010 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Not a great deal - the Doctor and his companions were time travellers so part of the idea was to make the these seem so different from the presnt (then the sixties). There was some reference to fashion of the times to indicate when we were in the present - as some of the companions were, for example. The females would probably be regarded as liberated (a theme of the time) but not much else.

The title of an instrumental number from the 50s or 60s?
Q. I used to play the slide guitar lead on an instrumental number from the late 50s or early 60s. It has a classic 1/6/2/5 structure, along the lines of G-Em-Am-D7, is in 3/4 and is kinda ballady. I can't recall the title or the artist. Any suggestions?

It looks like if you have a nice bubble of hair behind your head band but it looks really nice. I need instructions on how to do it, with a web site to check and make sure it's the one. name of Asian detective black and white 60s tv show?
Q. I am 22 and was in no way alive when this show came on. I assume it came on between the 50s or 60s. My mother used to let me watch it with her when I was little as it came on randomly on TMC in marathon form over 12 years ago. It's black and white and is about a detective who solves crimes and murder mysteries. That doesn't narrow it down much, but I remember one feature, the detective was Asian.
