What is the point of the film "10 Rillington Place?"?
Q. I am all for grim or grisly films or cautionary tales, but if a film lifts its plot from real life events it should surely convey some meaning or sense of social purpose? Considering the tragic events related had occurred only shortly before, didn't this film seem a somewhat inappropriate or undignified affair? Elderly people are forever saying that today's young are corrupted by violent films, but right in the middle of the "respectable" age we have a film that seems no more purposeful or intelligent than any of today's voyeuristic tabloids.

A. The point is that Timothy Evans, who was a fantasist and feeble minded , was tried, convicted and executed for the murder of his wife and baby daughter. This was a terrible miscarriage of justice as the real guilty party was Reginald Christy, the Evans's landlord.Due to a poor police investigation, the fact that Christy was very clever and was able to manipulate the feeble Evans, and a very biased trial it was inevitable that the innocent Evans would die. This whole sorry episode highlighted deficiencies in the English legal system that persist to this day. Christy was eventually tried and executed for murder. He is believed to have killed seven or eight women and one baby.

is 10 rillington place any good?
Q. should i bother getting it? i want something really scary, but not like scream kinda scary. i want something like the silence of the lambs.

A. I've never seen it but my mum did when she was younger and she has hated Richard Attenborough since!! Every time she sees him in a movie she shivers, even when he palyed Santa Claus, lol !!!
