From Google News Search: "Characters" How many Cantonese characters do I need to know to feel comfortable living in Hong Kong? Q. I am so fascinated with Hong Kong! I also believe that if one is going to live in another country, then he or she should at least make an effort to learn their language. I read somewhere that to be able to carry on a good conversation with one in "Mandarin Chinese" one should know about 3,000 characters, and about 7,000 characters to read technical books. So, how many characters of "Cantonese" should I learn to be more than comfortable living in Hong Kong? Thank You in advance! Answered by leaf - Thu Mar 12 17:46:31 2009 Characters destroying Actors? What happens when the character you play is more popular then you are?
Q. I just noticed Remember Me starring Robert Pattinson bombed, bombed Hard. Does this prove characters are more liked then the actors that play them? I'm wondering the same thing about Hugh Laurie (Doctor House) when House is over, will he be over? What happens when the character you play is more popular then you are? Asked by piccolo0122 - Sat Apr 10 08:46:53 2010 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. That happens to actors a lot. It seems like it can go several ways though. They can try to prevent it, revel in it, or work hard to break out of that mold. After the third or fourth Harry Potter, Daniel Radcliffe started branching out to other movies and plays. Most likely he's doing this to establish a broader career, so this would not happen to him once they ran out of Rowlings' books. But it'll still be hard to drop the Harry. And he knows. Star Trek is pretty notorious for stopping its actor's careers from that point on. Although, some went on to directing, and LeVar Burton had a strong career both before and after. William Shatner didn't really drop Kirk with TJ Hooker, but after all this time on Boston Legal, he's now Danny Crane.
