A film, also called a movie or motion picture, is a story conveyed with moving images. It is produced by recording photographic images with cameras, or by creating images using animation techniques or visual effects. The process of filmmaking has developed into an art form and industry. Films are cultural artifacts created by specific cultures, which reflect those cultures, and, in turn, affect them. Film is considered to be an important art form, a source of popular entertainment and a powerful method for educating — or indoctrinating — citizens. The visual elements of cinema give motion pictures a universal power of communication. Some films have become popular worldwide attractions by using dubbing or subtitles that translate the dialogue. Films are made up of a series of individual images called frames. When these images are shown rapidly in succession, a viewer has the illusion that motion is occurring. The viewer cannot see the flickering between frames due to an effect known as persistence of vision, whereby the eye retains a visual image for a fraction of a second after the source has been removed. Viewers perceive motion due to a psychological effect called beta movement. The origin of the name "film" comes from the fact that photographic film (also called film stock) has historically been the primary medium for recording and displaying motion pictures. Many other terms exist for an individual motion picture, including picture, picture show, moving picture, photo-play and flick. A common name for film in the United States is movie, while in Europe the term cinema is preferred. Additional terms for the field in general include the big screen, the silver screen, the cinema and the movies. From Wikipedia under the
GNU Free Documentation License What movies would you suggest for 13-15 year old girls to watch? Q. So I'm planning on having a movie night with my friends over. We're all 13, 14, or 15. What are some really good movies we could watch that are appropriate (like no cursing, swearing, nudity, etc.)? We all hate movies that has nothing but romance, and love action/adventure. It would be great if the movie is a little funny, too. Some spy movies would be great too because we all love reading those kinds of books too. Q. I'm looking for movies to watch with really sweet and romantic teenage guys in it. Maybe something where a girl is in danger and the guy saves her. Or some guy is harassing a girl and another guy saves her. I already know about Twilight (but I'm not a big fan of this movie), and a Walk to Remember, so I'm looking for different movies. Thanks! Try the movie Powder, 10 Things I hate about You, Never been Kissed, Pretty in Pink, 16 Candles, The Outsiders, Romeo and Juliet (Leo Dicaprio version), Three Musketeers (Maybe), A Cinderella Story, Center Stage, Win a Date with Tad Hamilton, Employee of the Month (Not a teenager), now that I am thinking there are a bunch. Q. How come older movies say like the ones that came out 10 years go or older don't impress as far as video quality but the newer ones look amazing? It can't be because they are old because if you think about it the movies that are now at the theater are not in bluray format untill they are released for dvd so you would think the quality would be the same for older and newer movies. Theres no way to magically add a bunch of pixels to a frame that were never there in the first place.
