"Pronunciation" refers to the way a word or a language is spoken, or the manner in which someone utters a word. If someone is said to have "correct pronunciation," then it refers to both within a particular dialect.

A word can be spoken in different ways by various individuals or groups, depending on many factors, such as: the area in which they grew up, the area in which they now live, if they have a speech or voice disorder, their ethnic group, their social class, or their education.

Linguistic terminology

Syllables are counted as units of sound (phones) that they use in their language. The branch of linguistics which studies these units of sound is phonetics. Phones which play the same role are grouped together into classes called phonemes; the study of these is phonemics or phonematics or phonology. Phones as components of articulation are usually described using the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA).

How do you pronounce the price of gasoline?
Q. How do you pronounce the price of gasoline? Like if gasoline is $2.899 per gallon, how do you pronounce that price?
Asked by water_skipper - Wed Jul 15 15:20:14 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I'd just round it up that fraction of a penny and call it $2.90 a gallon... Kind of like if something cost you $299 and for simplicity's sake you said it cost $300. Close enough!

Which language is easier to speak, pronounce out of Japanese and Korean?
Q. I am planning to take a language course next summer, either Japanese or Korean, i don't speak any other languages than korean. I was also wondering which language would be most beneficial to learn and easiest for me to pronounce.
Asked by Whit - Thu Oct 22 19:40:09 2009 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Japanese is not intrinsically difficult; it's just very different from English, having evolved on a completely separate linguistic path. If you happen to know Korean, you will learn Japanese just about as easily as an English speaker learns German. I suggest you to learn the Korean first, even though Korean language isn't so easy to pronounce. Because if you can speak Korean, it would be easy to learn the Japanese and Chinese language. It evidenced by the number of Koreans who can speak fluent Japanese and Mandarin language. And the time to learn Korean language is shorter than learn Japanese. I can speak Japanese pretty good because I can speak Korean.
